Pluto, rotating for a period lasting around 1.5 Plutonian days. Plutos's rotation on its axis with respect to the stars (the sidereal period) takes 6 Earth days, 9 hours, 17 minutes, and 36 seconds. Pluto is a dwarf planet, part of Kuiper Belt. It was originally a planet, named after the Roman god of the underworld. Pluto's diameter is around 2372 kilometres. It was first visited from Earth in 2015, with the flyby of the New Horizons spacecraft. Like other Kuiper Belt objects it is primarily made of ice and rock. | |
