The Apollo 11 mission to the Moon took place from 16-24 July 1969, with this footage showing mission controllers celebrating the successful return of the astronauts. The Command Module 'Columbia' splashed down in the Pacific Ocean with US astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins on board, at dawn on 24 July 1969. This historic mission was the first to land astronauts on the Moon. After recovery by divers and helicopter, the astronauts were placed in a Mobile Quarantine Facility (MQF) and flown to Houston, Texas, and kept in quarantine for 18 days until 10 August 1969.
