Hiroshima atomic bomb skin burns. Footage of skin burns on a patient's arm, caused by the atomic bomb dropped on the city of Hiroshima, Japan, by a US bomber on 6 August 1945 during World War II. This footage also shows severe keloid scarring and the resulting contractures that deform the hand. Severe burns to the ear are also shown here. The atomic bombing destroyed most of the city. Some 70, 000 people died instantly, with tens of thousands more dying in the aftermath, and tens of thousands left injured and permanently disfigured. The nuclear bombing of Nagasaki followed on 9 August, and Japan surrendered a few days later. | |
