From 0:11, the camera pans across Buzz Aldrin, his wife Joan, Michael Collins, his wife Patricia, Harold Wilson, his wife Mary, Neil Armstrong, and his wife Janet, US ambassador to the United Kingdom Walter Annenberg, and his wife Leonore. Officially called the Giantstep Apollo 11 tour, the route took the Apollo 11 astronauts and their entourage to 27 cities in 22 countries over a period of 37 days. NASA astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Mike Collins were the crew of the historic Apollo 11 mission (16-24 July 1969), achieving the first landing by humans on the Moon on 20 July 1969. Around 100 million people turned out across the world to see the men who had been to the Moon. The visit to London, United Kingdom, took place from 14-15 October 1969. |
