Kennedy (at right) is seen talking to German-US aerospace engineer Wernher von Braun (centre) and NASA Administrator James Webb (left). The Saturn V rocket was used in the Apollo programme to reach the Moon. During this tour, Kennedy was also briefed on the Gemini programme and took an aerial tour of the facility. This was Kennedy's third visit to Cape Canaveral, taking place a week before his assassination. The site was renamed the Kennedy Space Center in his honour on 29 November 1963. |
