STS-131 launch on Space Shuttle Discovery. Montage footage showing different views during the launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-131. This mission took place from 5-20 April 2010, and was a mission to the International Space Station (ISS). There were seven astronauts on board. This footage shows some of the astronauts in the cockpit, followed by a close-up of the ignition of the main shuttle engines. This is followed by ignition of the booster rockets, and lift-off of the shuttle. The inset shows astronauts in the cockpit during the launch. Other views include the underside of the shuttle, a view from a camera on the external tank of the booster rockets detaching and falling away, and a view from a booster rocket as it falls back to Earth. The final view is from the ground as the booster rockets (solid rocket boosters, SRBs) fall away from the shuttle. |
