Vehicle Assembly Building, Kennedy Space Center, aerial footage. The start of this footage is taken while flying over water in the Turning Basin, approaching the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) from the east. The VAB is part of Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. The VAB is where NASA's largest launch systems are assembled. These include the Saturn V (Apollo program), the Space Shuttle, and the future Space Launch System (SLS). The Turning Basin is used for barges (one seen in clip) delivering large rocket parts. The VAB is one of the largest buildings in the world. It is 160 metres high and was built from 1962 to 1965. On the side of the building are the NASA logo and US flag. This footage was obtained in 2012. |
