Neil Armstrong's first steps on the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission. Neil Armstrong (1930-2012) descended the ladder on the Lunar Module at 02:56 UTC on 21st July 1969. As he stepped onto the surface he declared, That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind"". This film shows his next activities, as he unhooks a tether and steps back out onto the surface to lower down equipment. His PLSS backpack and pressure suit and gold visor are clearly visible. The footage was filmed by his colleague, mission pilot Edwin ""Buzz"" Aldrin."
