Mesodinium protozoan. Light microscopy footage of a lateral (side) view of a Mesodinium pulex ciliate protozoan. A ciliate protozoan is a single-celled micro-organism. It uses cilia for propulsion and to waft food particles into its mouth. Digestion takes place inside the cell. This specimen was obtained from brackish water on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany. This specimen is 20 micrometres across. See K005/2248 for cropped version. | |
