Mould colony. Tracking shot through an animation of a growing mould colony. A mould is a fungus composed of a mycelium, a multicellular network of tubular hyphae which absorb nutrients from the surrounding substance. The stalked structures are reproductive fruiting bodies which rise above the surface on which the mould grows. They release spores which float off to produce colonies elsewhere. Mould can cause disease by growing in the body, and the spores can produces allergic reactions. | |
