Bee (Eucera sp.) on a bee orchid (Ophrys apifera) flower. The flower of the bee orchid mimics a bee, and also releases pheromones that attract bees to attempt to mate with it. During attempted mating, pollen sacs (yellow) stick to the bee, which then pollinates the next bee orchid it attempts to mate with. The mating attempts can be seen in clip K004 2246. | |
