Several views of the sticky hairs and leaves of a common sundew (Drosera rotundifolia). This carnivorous plant attracts insects with tentacles bearing a sweet sticky solution. When the prey lands on the leaf, it becomes stuck to the tentacles, which then curl around the insect, trapping it. The plant then releases digestive enzymes that extract nutrients from the insect. | |
