Total lunar eclipse. Moon over an industrial area during the totality phase of a lunar eclipse. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon enters the cone of shadow cast into space by the Earth. The Moon does not entirely disappear during a lunar eclipse because light is refracted onto its surface by the Earth's atmosphere. Since red light is scattered less than blue light the Moon has a copper red colour. The illuminated numbers on the chimney are an artwork of Fibonacci numbers.
