Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) sitting on a ledge on a building, then flying away. It feeds primarily on other birds, which it takes in mid-air, striking then catching them during a rapid dive called the stoop. During this dive it can attain speeds of up to 320 kilometres per hour, the fastest speed recorded by any animal. The peregrine is a widespread falcon, found across the world. It has adapted well to life in urban areas, where feral pigeons form much of their diet. Filmed in Belper, Derbyshire, England. | |
