Following a zebra shark (Stegostoma fasciatum) as it swims over coral and the sandy seabed, before encountering a group of scuba divers. This is a nocturnal shark that spends most of the day resting on the seabed. At night it moves off to hunt for molluscs and crustaceans in crevices on the reef and on the sea floor. It is also known as the leopard shark, as befits its spotted skin. The name zebra shark was given as the juveniles have black and white stripes. Filmed on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. |
