Scuba diver filming a zebra shark (Stegostoma fasciatum). This is a nocturnal shark that spends most of the day resting on the seabed like this. At night it moves off to hunt for molluscs and crustaceans in crevices on the reef and on the sea floor. It is also known as the leopard shark, as befits its spotted skin. The name zebra shark was given as the juveniles have black and white stripes. Filmed on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. | |
