Vultures (subfamily Aegypiinae) feeding on an eland antelope (Taurotragus oryx) carcass. This clip shows dominance and subordinate species behaviour. Vultures use their long hooked beaks to tear through the skin of dead animals and rip off chunks of flesh. They have fewer feathers on their heads to prevent them from becoming coated in blood as they feed. Vultures live in open country, circling high above the ground as they search for the corpses of large mammals. Their digestive system enables them to safely eat decaying meat.
