Combustion of a sample of elemental sulfur as it is heated in air. Sulfur is a yellow crystalline non-metallic element. It melts at 115 degrees Celsius, and forms a dark red liquid at around 200 degrees C. This then burns with a blue flame, as seen when the lights are turned off. Burning sulfur in air produces toxic sulfur dioxide gas. | |
