| Milky Way to Eta Carinae Image zoom from a view of the Milky Way to a view of the Eta Carinae star system, located in the Carina Nebula. The zoom sequence shows the Homunculus Nebula, and finally the violent surroundings of Eta Carinae itself. Eta Carinae is around 7500 light years from Earth, in the constellation Carina. The final images of Eta Carinae and its surroundings were made with the Very Large Telescope (VLT). The Carina Nebula was imaged by the Digitized Sky Survey 2 (DSS2). This set of images was published in 2016. | |
