Heart blood vessel anatomy. Labelled animation showing the anatomy of the heart and its major blood vessels. The animation starts with a view of a human figure showing the skeleton and internal organs. The view zooms in on the beating heart and the lungs, which are rising and falling with each breath. The animation then shows just the heart, with its major blood vessels labelled: the coronary arteries and veins, the vena cavae, the aorta and the pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins. The vena cavae return deoxygenated blood from the body to the heart. The blood is then pumped to the lungs in the pulmonary arteries, oxygenated in the lungs, and returned to the heart in the pulmonary veins. The oxygenated blood is then pumped around the body through the aorta. The heart, and its chambers and valves, is then shown in sectioned view, with the different major blood vessels individually highlighted in the second half of the animation.
