White-throated dipper. A white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus) collecting nesting material on a mossy river bank. Also known as the European dipper, the white-throated dipper is an aquatic bird found in Europe and the Middle East. It walks into and under water in search of food such as small crustaceans and the larvae of aquatic insects. It builds a nest in a crack or hollow near the water's edge, and lines it with moss and leaves. It characteristically bobs up and down and frequently cocks its tail. Footage filmed on the River Teifi, Wales, UK. | |
