Rubber tubing which has been dipped in liquid nitrogen smashes when it strikes a hard surface. Liquid nitrogen is a cryogenic fluid, that is, it will cause rapid freezing of objects dipped into it. The rubber tubing loses its elasticity on freezing and becomes brittle. At atmospheric pressure, liquid nitrogen boils at minus 196 Centigrade. | |
