Limestone formations in a cave. These rock formations are created by water percolating through limestone. The water dissolves some of the limestone, and as it drips from the ceiling it leaves a small amount behind. Over long periods of time this can build up huge suspended cones called stalactites, and beneath them growing cones called stalagmites. Filmed in the Aude Department of France. | |
