Binary fission. Animation showing a bacterium in the last stages of binary fission. Binary fission is a form of asexual reproduction where two daughter cells are formed from one parent cell. Once the DNA (deoxyribonuclic acid) has been replicated and moved to separate ends of the cell a new cell wall starts to grow across the centre of the cell. Once the cell wall is complete the daughter cells separate. | |
