Zoom in to the Perseus Cluster of galaxies, ending on the active galaxy NGC 1275 (Perseus A). The Perseus Cluster (Abell 426) contains hundreds of galaxies, and is one of the most massive objects known. It is very bright at X-ray wavelengths, indicating that the galaxies are embedded in hot gas. NGC 1275 is the brightest member of the cluster, and is a powerful emitter of radio waves. The cluster lies some 230 million light years from Earth, in the constellation Perseus.<br>Restrictions: |
