| Glial cell in tissue culture, timelapse microscope video. The culture conditions have been modified to kill the neuronal cells around the glial cell, and as they die the glial cell becomes phagocytotic, removing the dead cell debris. It is believed that glial cells fulfill the same function in diseased or injured brain, removing cellular debris before it becomes toxic. | |
