Animation of small particles colliding in the early Solar System. Collisions between dust particles eventually led to the formation of larger rocks, which collided to form larger planetesimals. These collided with each other to form much larger protoplanets, which eventually swept up the remaining material, forming the planets we see today. See clip K002/4964 for the stage before this, and clips K002/4968 and K002/4979 for successively later stages. | |
