Purple martin (Progne subis) nestling just a couple of weeks old being banded by Ohio Department of Wildlife officer. Banding helps people keep track of purple martin migration, movements and longevity. These birds are common throughout the eastern half of the U.S., parts of the West Coast, and southern Canada. They migrate to and from South America each year following several flyways. | |
