A snow-clad Mt. Shasta and its satellite cone, Shastina, rises high above the surrounding plain in northern California. Shasta is an active 4, 322 meter-high composite volcano of the Cascade Range similar to Mt. St. Helens. Shasta is considered a dormant volcano which will erupt again, mostly likely within a few hundred years. | |
