The normally docile Chilean rose tarantula (Grammostola rosea) rears up on its hind legs and bears its fangs in a laboratory demonstration of tarantula threat posturing. Aggressive tarantulas would attack the prod and/or the researcher doing the prodding. Rose hairs are indigenous to desert and scrub regions of Chile, Bolivia and Argentina. | |
