Giant water bug (Belastoma sp.) attaches itself to pond vegetation. Some species can reach over 10 cm in size and are found in freshwater habitats in the eastern and central U.S. They can stay submerged for many minutes breathing air from an air bubble trapped under their wings. They are predators of insects, tadpoles, even small fish. | |
