| Timelapse footage of tiny thermophilic rotifers surrounding bubbles of oxygen gas produced by cyanobacteria. The cyanobacteria produce nutrients through photosynthesis, and the rotifers feed on the cyanobacteria. The water was collected from a thermal spring at around 46 degrees Celsius, much hotter than many such organisms can survive. The rotifers contain an orange pigment only found in organisms that feeding on these mats of cyanobacteria. Filmed in Australia. | |
