Seborrhoeic keratosis (SK) in a 61 year old male patient. This is a common, harmless warty spot that appears during adult life. They have a highly variable appearance and can be either a flat or raised plaque, be 1 millimetre to several centimetres in diameter and can be yellow, brown, black or mixed colours. They are not infectious and do not become skin cancer. It is unknown what causes them but it has been suggested that sunlight is a risk factor. Methods used to remove seborrhoeic keratoses may include cryotherapy (freezing) or cutterage (scraping off). | |
