Multinodular goitre in a 57 year old female patient. This condition is characterised by the presence of multiple lumps or nodules in the thyroid gland, which causes the gland to enlarge and a lump to form in the front of the neck. Symptoms may include difficulty swallowing and hoarseness. The exact cause of this condition is not always clear, but it can be due to an overactive or underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism), hormonal changes, or a condition related to the immune system. In most cases, goitres are small and do not cause any problems. Treatment will depend on the size of the goiter, the presence of symptoms, and any underlying health conditions. | |
