Southern facing ditches and ramparts at Badbury Rings hill fort, Dorset, UK. The fort was constructed around 800 BC and was most likely inhabited by the Durotriges tribe until the Roman invasion of Britain in the 1st century AD. The fort's primary purpose was to provide defensive fortifications to the inhabitants, and it consists of three circular ramparts. Excavations in the area have revealed evidence of human activity within the fort, including the remains of buildings and pottery. | |
