Newton colour disc, 3 of 3. Newton colour disc consists of segments of different colours. As the disc is spun, the colours start to blend. When rotation speed is fast enough, the disc is perceived as white by the human brain. This effect is due to human's finite (limited) visual perception time (persistence of vision). Photo 1 shows a stationary disc. Photo 2 shows partial colour blending as the disc is spun. At a higher speed the colours blend completely and the disc appears slightly off-white, Photo 3. | |
