African pygmy-kingfisher (Ispidina picta) perching on a branch. These birds are very small, only about 12 centimetres long and weighing around 12 grams. Both male and female African pygmy-kingfishers have blue heads, white throats, and blue backs, with red legs and beaks. They mainly eat insects such as grasshoppers, worms, crickets, dragonflies, moths, and spiders. Photographed in Kenya. | |
