Herd of European bison (Bos bonasu). European bison, also known as wisant, were once a widespread species in Europe but were hunted to extinction in the wild by 1919. Stock have been reintroduced from the descendants of 50 captive animals. This herd was relocated to a 50 hectare enclosure in the Jura mountains in November 2022 to assess if the animal will be able to live in the environment in the wild.
