Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) spacecraft in the Large Space Simulator at the European Space Research and Technology Centre, Noordwijk, the Netherlands. In the Large Space Simulator JUICE will be subjected to extreme temperature cycles under vacuum to replicate the extreme heating and cooling that it will experience on its eight-year journey to Jupiter. The spacecraft is furnished with a laboratory of instruments that will investigate Jupiter's turbulent atmosphere and vast magnetosphere, as well as study the planet-sized icy moons Ganymede, Europa and Callisto. JUICE is scheduled for launch in 2023. | |
