Illustration of the British physician Thomas Barlow (1845-1945). Barlow studied medicine at University College, London, qualifying in 1871 and worked as a house physician under William Jenner. In 1874 he became registrar at Great Ormand Street Hospital, then assistant physician in 1875, physician in 1885 and consultant in 1899. During this time he also held posts at other London hospitals.
