Human skull with blunt force trauma to the forehead, probably from an axe or club. This skull was recovered from a field of ancient warfare in the valley of the River Tollense, in NW Germany, one of the earliest battlefields in Europe. Archaeological work has identified 20, 000 disarticulated body parts representing over 140 individuals, mostly young adult men. 1250 BC | |
