Cadmium hydroxide precipitate. 1M solution of ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) is poured into a beaker containing 0.2M solution of cadmium sulfate (CdSO4). White cadmium hydroxide (Cd(OH)2) is formed: CdSO4 + NH4OH -> Cd(OH)2 + (NH4)2SO4. This is an example of a double replacement reaction. | |
