Aluminium powder on a watch glass. Aluminium powder; ; Atomic number 13; Molar mass 26.981 g/mol. Also known as aluminium, bauxite, it is a ductile metal, the most abundant in the Earth's crust, and a chemical element. The powder of this light metal is non-toxic and very fine. These properties make it ideal for a metallic pigment in cosmetics, paints and as a forensic fingerprint dusting powder. In powder form it is flammable and is used in pyrotechnics, and in rocket and missile fuel. In its solid form it is widely used where weight and resistance to corrosion are of importance such as the car, aero and building industries. | |
