Light micrograph section through human tissue showing adrenal cortical adenoma. This refers to a common benign (non-cancerous) tumour arising from the cortex of the adrenal gland. It commonly occurs in adults and are not considered to have the potential to become malignant. In most cases adrenal masses do not make excess hormones, cause no symptoms and therefore do not need to be surgically removed. However, surgical removal is only considered if the tumour is found to make excess hormones. | |
