Fluorescing featherstar, or crinoid, feeding at night at Apo Island, Philippines. It is lit with a blue light to show fluorescent pigments. Echinoderms such as the brittlestars, and featherstars may fluoresce, but the reason why some individuals do is not yet known. | |
