The Northern Sharpnose, (Xenoxybelis (Philodryas) argenteus) is a twig mimic. It even has cryptic behavior where the snake extends its tongue and holds it in place looking even more like the spindly ends of a vine. The species inhabits rainforest through the Amazon Basin. The specimen was photographed on the Rio Sucusari, Loreto, Peru, in 2018. | |
