CU Virginis is a single star in the equatorial constellation of Virgo. It has an apparent visual magnitude of 4.99, which is bright enough to be faintly visible to the naked eye. CU Vir is a so-called 'peculiar' star, which shows overabundances of some metals in their spectra, such as strontium, chromium and europium. These stars have greater magnetic field strength than non-peculiar stars, from a few thousand Gauss to tens of thousands. | |
