The untreated tumour at top has blood vessels that show a chaotic and aberrant architecture. While the treated tumour at bottom has a normal vascular network. The aberrant vascular network of the untreated tumour prevents antitumoural T cells (yellow), a cell of the immune system, from penetrating the tumour and releasing interferon-gamma (green and yellow spheres) to activate other immune cells. The use of such monoclonal antibodies could improve the effectiveness of immunotherapy drugs.
