IBM Q System One quantum computer. This is the world's first fully integrated universal quantum computing system, currently installed at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York, USA, where IBM scientists are using it to explore system improvements and enhancements that accelerate commercial applications of this transformational technology. For the first time ever, IBM Q System One enables universal approximate superconducting quantum computers to operate beyond the confines of the research laboratory. Quantum computers are based on quantum mechanics and the principle of representing information using quantum properties, storing and manipulating data in units known as qubits, the basic unit of quantum information. This has the potential to massively increase computing power. Image published in January 2019. | |
