Kassite inscription, 2nd millennium BC. This is an example of a stamped brick left in the foundations of a temple to record the building work done under the reign of a particular ruler. This brick's inscription names Adad-shuma-usur, a ruler of the Kassite period in around 1216–1187 BC. The brick was found in the Ekur of Nippur, a temple in Mesopotamia dedicated to the chief god Enlil. | |
